Season 2022-23

TO: All TMSL Team Representatives/Interested Parties
FROM: Vasilis Andriopoulos President

Tucson Metro Soccer League
2022/23 Season
DATE: August 4, 2022

As we begin a new TMSL season, there are a few things to keep in mind and share with your players.

·         Registration for the Fall season is open.  Team Managers must have their teams with at least 11 players registered no later than September 6, 2022, at 7:00 pm. Registration details are outlined below. An important note regarding payment of dues: Team Managers MUST email TMSLsoccer@gmail.com with a list of any players that wish to pay two installments of $75 rather than the one-time payment of $150 asap, but no later than September 1st. At this time, the current online payment system is not set up to take any payment less than $150. If we know which players would like to make installments, the system can be manually adjusted by player account to allow them to submit the $75 payment. We need this list as soon as possible to allow us time to make these adjustments to the online payment accounts in time for the September 6th deadline.

·         O50 and O60 fee is $100 since they are using city/county fields. We no longer use the office at 4651 N First Ave. Suite #204. Any payments or waivers can be dropped at THE SHOP (3130 E Fort Lowell rd) during normal business hours.  Individual board members cannot take registration forms or payments.

·         Please reach out to any board members if you have any questions about the information above. We are looking forward to the Fall season and are excited to be back on the field.

Summer Schedule and Game Rules

Dear Managers, Coaches, Referees and fans

All games will be played at the Kino South complex on Tuesday and Thursday nights at 6:30p and 8:15p.  We will be playing 40 minute halves for this summer, and mandatory water breaks.
Also Substitution will be in every dead-ball (like FIFA rule) if players have checked in at half line with AR.

The fields listed on the TMSL schedule will be “Kino South A” and “Kino South B.” We have to use these designations because Kino will not be notifying the league about the specific fields they have been assigned each night until teams arrive at the field.  If you are scheduled these games, when you go through the gate at the south complex, ask Kino personnel which two fields are being used by TMSL. If you are scheduled to field A go to the lowest number field indicated by Kino personnel and if you are scheduled to field B go to the highest number.  For example, if gate personnel tell you TMSL is playing on Kino 3 and Kino 4, teams A should go to field 3 and teams B should go to field 4.

New Rules

Change of rule for All Divisions:
Effective immediately September 26, TMSL would like to modify substitution guidelines moving forward as follows so that substitutes can be made on any out-of-bounds balls:

  1. Retain current substituting guidelines: sub on own throw-in and all goal kicks.
  2. Add substituting on own corner kicks
  3. Add substituting on opponent’s corner kicks and throw-ins IF opponent substitutes first

So, a team can substitute on their own throw-ins and corner kicks, and all goal kicks, as well as the opponent’s throw-ins and corner kicks only if the opponents substitute first.

New rule for O50 and O60 Divisions

NO SLIDING. Exception: “Sliding to save the ball from going out of bounds or save the goal is permitted only if the opponent player(s) is not engaged in the same play”

Over 60 Division Update

Over 60 Division Update:

The TMSL board met last Wednesday and has approved the following for over 60 division:

6- All games will be played on Wednesdays (6:30 PM, and 8:15 PM)

8- The games will start as soon as fields are secured, but no earlier than Sep 22nd. Also each team must have at least 11 players fully registered

The season may start 7v7 or 9v9 depending on the team rosters but ultimately will grow up to 11v11 as soon as all teams have enough players. Securing a soccer field (6:00-10:00) in a central location has been a challenge. Stay tuned for updates.
